World Class Expert Support

Scott Currie Ltd offers a range of services which pipe bands and individuals alike can benefit from.

As a life-long pipe band percussionist, Scott Currie has won every Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) Grade One major pipe band and drum corps championship available as both a bass drummer and tenor drummer. Having won four Grade One World Pipe Band Championships and eleven World Drum Corps Championships during his 27 year career with the world's most decorated pipe bands including Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band and Strathclyde Police Pipe Band, Scott's experience is often called upon in the UK and overseas to help improve and develop rhythmical and visual technique, motivation, player potential and competitive performance.

Bass and Tenor Drum Instruction & Tuning

Bass and tenor drummers play a vital role in the overall ensemble of the pipe band performance and often provide crucial weight to the factors determining the overall placement of a band in a major competition. Improving the quality of performance and tuning therefore holds obvious benefits for the entire pipe band ensemble.

Scott has assisted a number of pipe bands to improve their performance and sound including:

  • Arbroath RBL Pipe Band (Scotland)

  • Balmoral Highlanders Pipe Band (USA)

  • Bleary & District Pipe Band (Northern Ireland)

  • Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band (Scotland)

  • Cullen Pipe Band (Eire)

  • Dollar Academy Pipe Band (Scotland)

  • 6/8th Dundee Coy. Boys' Brigade Pipe Band (Scotland)

  • Finvoy Pipe Band (Northern Ireland)

  • St Thomas' Episcopal School Pipe Band (USA)

  • Warrington Pipe Band (England)

Attending workshops is an activity that almost every bass and tenor drummer will undertake during their playing career. Group sessions provide great opportunities for bass and tenor drummers to learn from experienced guest instructors in a focused environment, and to network with other drummers of a similar level who share the same goals and motivation to succeed in the competition enviroment.

Individual one-on-one sessions allow the instructor to closely examine and identify areas where the drummer can improve upon their rhythmic, dynamic and visual presence within the overall performance of a pipe band.

Every discipline associated with the art forms of pipe band bass and tenor drumming can be catered for at all levels of student ability.

Scott appreciates having had the opportunity to instruct bass and tenor drumming workshops both in the UK and overseas. Some of the workshops he has had the pleasure of presenting include:

  • Back to BASSics - Glasgow (Scotland)

  • Innovation - London, Ontario (Canada)

  • MHAF Winter Storm - Kansas City, Missouri (USA)
